I think back to the movie "Glengarry Glen Ross"
It’s about a real estate office where sales people compete for the coveted “Glengarry Leads” – the hottest leads that are reserved for “closers”.
In the most famous scene of the movie, Alec Baldwin teases the sales staff with them (the top performer for the week gets a Cadillac Eldorado, second place gets a set of steak knives, and everyone else gets fired).
Leads are such an important part of the film that the word is in the script 83 times!
You may think that’s just typical Hollywood exaggeration, but I don’t think it’s far off the mark.
Leads are the oxygen of all businesses. Without them there are no sales, and without sales there are no profits.
