Different coaches have different ways of conducting their client sessions.

All of his sessions are done by phone.
He intentionally chooses not to use video so he can focus on the conversation and take notes without worrying about how he's looking to his clients.
He also uses pen and paper for his notes, so there's no clicking and clacking of keys distracting from the call.
Before each session he reviews his notes from the last few sessions to prepare for the new one ...
And he has a set of coaching questions that he asks at the beginning that give structure to his calls.
