"'I just transferred $10,000,000 into your checking account, now you have no more money problems, what are you going to do now?
Are you going to keep running your business? Are you going to ditch it
all, buy a yacht, and cruise the Caribbean?'
After a few laughs, and once they realize it's really a serious question, we get down to business.
Most people realize that after 2 (or 6) months of floating around doing nothing, they
will be bored and unfulfilled.
'So, what will you REALLY do with your life now that money is not an issue?'
This is where it gets interesting. Now we get real answers. I never accept the first answer.
I ask, 'Why would you do that?'
The answer may be a bit closer to the truth, but generally it takes me asking that question at least 5 times before we get to the actual answer.
Now we are getting really close.
Then, finally, we've cut through the fluff, we have gone past the social veneer, and we discover their real true purpose. I'll generally have to ask more leading questions to help my client get there, but they always do ..."
