I posted this rant a while back, but I still feel the same way re: some podcast hosts' crazy application methods for guests:
=====
I just turned down an opportunity to be a guest on a podcast after the host sent me to his application page, which would have taken an hour to fill out, and required:
- a blood sample
- my most recent tax return
- my grade 12 report card
- answers to 10 skill-testing questions
- an accurate sketch of the Mona Lisa
- my explanation for crop circles (I wasn't allowed to use "aliens" as a response
unfortunately)
- my opinion on the abortion debate
- my answer for the meaning of life (in under 50 words)
After this, we'd have to schedule a separate pre-interview call to make sure I'm a "good fit" for the podcast.
Hosts: I get it, you want to have good guests on your show
that won't embarrass you. But if your application form takes too long to fill out, busy people aren't going to mess around with it ...
=====
Alright, I exaggerated on the requirements from this host, but a lot of people are making the whole podcast interview thing too difficult.
If you'd like to have me as a guest on your show (and don't require me to scale Mount Everest first), I'm opening up spots on my calendar.
I'll deliver as much value as I can during our interview, and I'll also share it around once it's released to get the word out ...
