The Power of Asking Good Questions

Published: Fri, 12/18/15

Hi ,

Asking the right questions can lead to better sessions with your clients - I don't think any coaches would disagree with that!

But in the heat of the moment - when you're "out on the field", "on the ice", "in the ring" (or any other sports metaphor that you want to apply to coaching!), it can be difficult to remember this ... or to come up with the right questions at the right time!

Does your brain ever freeze when you're with a client?

When you know that you should ask a question, and then be quiet and let the client answer, but you feel the pull to fill the void with something???

After all, silence can be awkward!

I just finished reading a great book that I wanted to tell you about that will help with this:

It's called "Coaching Questions: A Coach's Guide to Powerful Asking Skills" by Tony Stoltzfus.

I don't know Tony Stoltzfus, nor am I affiliated in any way with him, but when I come across good resources for coaches I like to pass them along.

It's a short read, but don't let that fool you!  If you decide to read it, send me an email and let me know what you thought of the book!

Marc
