Do You Struggle With This ?

Hey Coach Nation!

Today I’m catching my breath and getting ready for the “real” start to the new year, which is tomorrow (let’s face it, a lot of people have been in holiday mode for the last few weeks, and planned on being back on January 4th!).

I was reflecting on something that happened over the holidays – something that you might struggle with too …

My friend Dave was over to my place, and we were “shooting the breeze” and talking about how things went in our businesses and our lives in 2015 (Dave is on my email list ... hey Dave!)

Dave congratulated me on a number of business achievements that I’ve made over the last 12 months, but I kept deflecting the compliments and focusing on what I didn’t even achieve in the year.

I responded with something like; “Yeah, that was great, but I really wish I had _________”.

Finally, before he left, I picked up on what I was doing and I thanked him for the props.  After enough times, I got it through my thick skull and accepted a pat on the back!

A lot of us do that, don’t we?  We’re so focused on what we DIDN’T achieve, that we lose sight of everything that DID do!

So we could accomplish 9 out of 10 things that we wanted to do, but we moan about the one thing that remains uncompleted.

90% is a pretty good average! (heck, if a major league ballplayer gets a hit 33% of the time, he’s considered damn good).

In 2016, give yourself credit for what you accomplish … treat yourself well by doing that, and you’ll have more energy to get the other things done too.
