Hi
,
Most coaches that I've met are "on the ball".
They show up when they agree to show up. They do what they say they'll do.
But I've noticed a disturbing trend that's been happening over the last few months:
Coaches dropping the ball!
This week, I had an experience with a guest on
my podcast that high-lights this problem.
Here's the story: We had an appointment to do an interview for my podcast back in the fall. At the agreed upon time, he didn't show up on Skype. He later apologized, I said "hey, things happen", and we rescheduled for this week.
Our new time came up on Tuesday, and guess who didn't show up?
He apologized, and asked
to reschedule (again).
I said "No thanks"!
I understand that mistakes happen. No one is perfect - I get it. But after a couple of let-downs, I'm not feeling all warm-and-fuzzy about this guy showing up on attempt #3.
He missed an opportunity. He blew it. I promote the heck out of my guests, and he won't get that benefit because he dropped the
ball.
Unfortunately, it's happening a lot.
I've had others miss calls for less-than-adequate reasons. And I just shake my head, because if they're so nonchalant about their business, how well can they be doing?
It's simple. If you agree to do something, you do it. If you don't do it, you're burning bridges. And you're hurting your
business.
Rant over!
Marc
