The Things That Really Matter!

Coaches can learn something from my favourite hockey team ...

In the last few months, the Toronto Maple Leafs (currently near the bottom in their conference) have been teasing the release of a new logo.  They put a lot of effort into it, and they released it today.

What do I think of the logo? Meh – it’s ok, but I got something out of the whole process that can help coaches.

Like the Maple Leafs, a lot of coaches put too much time into the things that don’t matter.  They spend weeks or months tweaking a logo, working on a banner for their website, trying to decide on a slogan … instead of “hitting the ice” and COACHING!

Don’t get me wrong – branding is important.  A nice logo, website, slogan, business cards are important for your business, but they shouldn’t hold you back from getting out there and HELPING people.

You’ll have plenty of years to change your branding if needed.  Some of the best coaches that I know had pretty crummy websites and branding in their early days, but as they became more successful they poured resources into fixing them.

You’ll have plenty of time to do that to.  Just don’t get fixated on the things that distract you from getting and helping clients TODAY.

If you'd like help for your coaching business, I've opened up a few spots this week to connect on Skype (1:1) to support the people on my email list.  This is an opportunity to get help with anything: launching your coaching business, choosing your programs, setting your pricing, niching ... anything, with no-obligation or strings attached.

If you'd like one of the spots, head over to my calendar and book something (there's a spot there to give me a heads up with what you need help on).

Go Leafs Go!
