I'm going through a re-branding of my coaching biz at the moment: a new website, logo, and all that fun stuff ...
Monday night, I gave a sneak peak of the new logo to the members of my Facebook group, The Coaching
Jungle . I got a lot of positive feedback on the logo on the group wall and in private messages. I was feeling pretty darn good!
But then I got a couple of less-enthusiastic messages from people who didn't like it:
"It didn't appeal to me"
"It looks like any print on a t-shirt" (ouch)
"The logo doesn't pull me in at all"
What to do? Back to the drawing board???
Nope.
I learned a long time ago that you'll never get 100% agreement on anything that you put out there (if you do happen to get 100%, it's because people are afraid of
offending you and aren't being honest.)
I took out my calculator and totalled up the new logo's approval rating: 77%. If only 20% of my community like something that I'm doing, then I know there's a problem. But almost 80%? I'll take it!
Don't get caught up in the
perfectionism trap. Perfectionism is deadly in business! Do the best that you can, and then move onto the next item on your to-do list.
If you worry about a few dissenting voices, you're sunk!
