Earlier this week, another coach asked me if I would agree to do an interview with her for her community, where I'd share tips to how to grow a successful Facebook group.
The catch? I didn't have much notice to prepare!
But I like this person, and I wanted to help her out.
So we set the whole thing up rather quickly.
(I even warned her before she hit "record" that I was woefully unprepared for the interview, and would be shooting from the hip)
A funny thing happened once we got rolling: a ton of stuff came into my mind from left
field!
I've spent a lot of time growing The Coaching Jungle Facebook group in its first six months. I haven't calculated the hours (I'd shudder if I did), but it's not a stretch to say that I spend a few hours a day working on the group, in one way or another.
If you do something that often, you'll learn (even when you don't realize it)
Our interview was supposed to go about 20 minutes, but it ended up being almost an hour long - and I was just getting warmed up.
I didn't even come close to giving everything that I could have about the topic!
The lesson here?
You're soaking in knowledge every day. You just may not realize it ...
If you love something, you're doing it often. You're reading about it. Watching videos about
it. Chatting with friends about it. Thinking about it.
If you hopped on the line with me right now to talk about whatever it is that you're passionate about, you'd easily fill the time too - and you'd have a lot left to say at the end of it!
This is important to remember because you're going to have opportunities pop up to share your opinion and advice about something.
The little voice in your head may tell you that you aren't ready. It'll try to talk you into pushing it
back.
Don't be hesitant to jump at those opportunities. Once you get started, your brain will get in a groove and you'll be surprised at how much you really know about it!
