Last weekend I took my son to go see "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice", despite the bad reviews that it's been getting (just 29% on Rotten Tomatoes - ouch!)
Although it got killed by critics, we both enjoyed it. But I can admit that it had it
share of problems! And we coaches can learn a thing or two from them ...
(No movie spoilers, I promise)
A big problem in
Batman V. Superman is it tries to cram too much into the movie. It's really setting up for a Justice League movie that's coming out in a coming of years time (for non-geeks, the Justice League is a team of superheroes.)
So the movie throws in a bunch of cameos and things hinting at stuff that's coming
down the road, and there's so much going on that it's hard to concentrate on this movie.
It's all kinda confusing ...
How
does this relate to coaches?
A lot of coaches are so concerned with setting up future projects, instead of working on what's in front of them now.
Instead of getting
some good 1:1 clients, they're working on building a massive membership community that will have thousands and thousands of people ...
Rather than just getting a website up and running, they're planning and saving for a website that will be the
best-coaching-website-of-all-time ...
They've got their eyes set on their 5, 10 or 25 year goal instead of buckling down and focusing on the goals that they need to accomplish now.
There will be time for all that down the road - but for now, keep your eyes on what's in front of you. Use the big picture stuff to motivate you, but don't get distracted by it.
And if you go to see Batman V. Superman, let me know what you think of it!
