Finding That Silver Lining ....

Published: Tue, 06/28/16

When the "bleep" hits the fan, it's hard to remember that there's a silver lining in pretty much every situation imaginable.

For example, take the horrible collapse that the Golden State Warriors just had in the NBA Finals, blowing a three games to one lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

At first glance, it would be a tough pill to swallow.  The Warriors set the NBA record for wins in a regular season, and nobody expected this kind of collapse. It was unimaginable!

But there is a silver lining in it.  In a blog post on Larry Brown Sports,  Greg Papke argues that the bitter loss will put the Warriors in a better position to land prize free agent Kevin Durant, who's a big catch in the basketball world.

Durant is keen to win a championship, and he knows that the Warriors' loss will have them playing with a chip on their shoulders next season.  So it's pretty appealing for him to go there ...  (here's the link to check out the post -> http://larrybrownsports.com/basketball/warriors-losing-nba-finals-helps-durant/310078

A silver linings strategy can be applied for lots of things in your daily life:

- blow a tire and have to walk a mile to get home?  There's a good bit of exercise, and it'll help you get healthier.

- got dumped by your significant other?  You're now free to find someone who's a better fit and truly appreciates you.

- got demoted at work?  There's your chance to start looking for a position with a new company, without the fear of a big loss (little to lose!)

- got fired?  That's more time to spend with your family until you find something else.

And on and on ...

As I get older, I'm learning to look for the silver linings whenever something happens, and it keeps my stress level in check.

Give it a try!
