Is that win/win really a win/win?

I get messages all of the time from people wanting to talk with me about an idea that they have ...

They often pitch it as a "win/win", or a "can't miss" - something that I should jump at.

If you've been around the block once or twice, I'm sure you get these messages too.

I used to take a lot of the calls.  I hopped onto Skype, or the phone, with a notebook and pen in hand - waiting to jot down the details of the amazing opportunity. Then ...

More often than not, the request was really nothing more than a sales pitch, or an attempt to get me as an affiliate for their program/product.

I don't have a problem with people grinding and selling their wares - that's business, and I get it. But my definition of "win/win" is different than theirs ...

Win/win is something that helps BOTH parties.

"Hey, can you blast my program out to your social media/email list/followers, and I'll pay you x%!" isn't necessarily a win/win.

If I don't know you or your program/product, how can I vouch for it?

I'm ranting on this because if you're reaching out to others, you'll have a lot more luck if you genuinely offer to help that person.

See what they're working on, what their goals are, and if there's a match with what you do.

You'll get a lot further that way, since it's a true win/win.

Have an awesome Saturday,

Marc
