Back in high school, my
brother Matt and I started a band (I use the word "band" loosely)
We called it "Middle Name Earle", in honour of his middle name, since we figured there should be some good that came from him being stuck with Earle as a middle name for the rest of his life.
Matt was great at guitar, and we decided that I would be the lead singer.
And we recruited a few friends from high school - a drummer and
a bass player.
We were off to the races.
We even planned on releasing our debut CD using a service called "Disc Makers", which allowed anyone who had the money to make a bunch of CDs. You provide the music and the artwork, they make the CDs ...
We did some Green Day covers (it was the mid 1990's) and we had our own original stuff. Our first CD was going to be called "Who Let the Cat Out
of the Bag?" (Trust me, I'm groaning as I write this)
It was all going so well - until that day that I arrived for practice ...
As I approached our practice area, a cottage that my parents had on our property, I heard a voice that wasn't mine belting out our songs.
Opening the door, I discovered that I'd been replaced. "Middle Name Earle" had a new lead singer.
At
that moment, I had the sinking fear that I would suffer the same fate as Pete Best, who was fired by The Beatles and watched as Ringo Starr took his place as drummer for the band ... well, you know what happened there.
Lucky for me, the band never took off. If it had, I might have started another band in retaliation for being dropped, or begged to become Middle Name Earle's manager ...
Then I wouldn't be a coach.
And I wouldn't be doing my next group coaching program which starts soon. It's where I'll be working directly with five coaches to grow their businesses over 12 weeks.

Back to work I go - lately it seems like I'm working 8 days a
week!
