I'm taking my son to a
"Touch-A-Truck" event at our local coliseum today ...
It's one of those things where kids get to see a bunch of different trucks, and get inside and pretend to ride them and stuff.
Should be fun :)
When I get out to enjoy things and take my mind off of work, I come back energized. And some of my best ideas have come while being "out and about" instead of in front of a computer
screen.
Sometimes they even come in the shower, but I won't go there (awkward ...)
I remember hearing a story from Doberman Dan, the famous copywriter:
Dan went down to South America to be mentored by Gary Halbert, who was kind of like the Michael Jordan of copywriting (he was called "The Prince of Print")
When Dan arrived down there, Gary took him around town all day - doing
tasks and running around, washing his boat (if I remember the story correctly) and basically anything except actually writing anything.
Dan was surprised, and wondered why they weren't getting the writing done for their clients. But when they finally arrived back to Gary's place, something magical happened.
His writing was on fire.
He was a machine.
You couldn't stop
him!
There was a method to Gary Halbert's madness. All day, when it looked like he was slacking off, he was actually coming up with ideas for his copy.
By relaxing and doing things that he enjoyed (instead of staring at a blank pad of paper) he became energized. And when it was time to get to writing, the words just flowed out.
That's a good lesson for we coaches to remember when we need to get
creative too ...
It's the weekend, get out there and have some fun.
Although I'm out and about this weekend, I've opened up a few slots to connect with you this week and go over how you can get more coaching clients. To grab one of the slots, go here:
Cheers,
