If you're an
entrepreneur, you're weird.
It's ok, I'm weird too.
Maybe "weird" isn't the right word.
How about we call ourselves "misfits"?
We're misfits because:
- we refuse to conform to society's expectations that we work at a 9-to-5 job that we hate.
- we don't want our earnings, or our impact, capped by bosses.
- we eagerly "work 80 hours a week for
ourselves, so we don't have to work 40 hours a week for someone else" (I love that quote)
- we often choose to spend our Friday and Saturday nights at home working on our businesses - instead of heading out to the clubs to party with friends (or strangers).
You know what?
It's ok.
The older that I get, the less I care about being labelled by others.
I've been
in business for myself since I was 21, and I'll continue doing it until I'm 101 (fingers crossed that I make it that long).
If you're the same weirdo as I am, you aren't alone. There are lots of us out there - including Dave Lukas, the host of the Misfit Entrepreneur podcast. I had Dave on my show today, and we recorded a conversation between us two misfits. Here's the link to listen in:
