If Dancing With The Stars ever comes a-knockin', I'll say yes

A few weeks ago I was asked to be a speaker at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego in late March.

It's a pretty big deal since it's the world's largest social media marketing conference, and I'd be crazy to turn it down.

But I almost said "no".

You see, despite my advice to always jump at opportunities to grow your business, the little voice in my head tried to throw up roadblocks.

The conference happens at a busy time for my business and I wasn't planning on throwing something else into the mix. So that little voice made sure to remind me of potential scheduling conflicts.

Luckily, I committed to speaking at the event before I had a chance to talk myself out of it.  So I'll be in sunny San Diego this spring.

That's the way it works with opportunities.  You could have the best one in the world, but you'll start coming up with reasons to say "no" or to procrastinate. It's human nature.

In his book You Don't Have To Be A Shark, Robert Herjavec tells the story of when the popular dance competition television series Dancing With The Stars invited him to be on the show.

The timing was horrible for him: his long-time marriage just collapsed and he was in a major funk. Plus he didn't know anything about dancing, and could embarrass himself in front of millions of people watching.  Since he already starred in a hit tv show, Shark Tank, what could he gain by taking the risk for DWTS?

But Herjavec pushed ahead and went on the show. He describes it as one of the best decisions he's ever made, and he even ended up marrying his dancing partner Kym Johnson!

I'm not saying that you'll make a million dollars with every opportunity, or find your soulmate like Herjavec did. But you never know what could happen.  One thing is for sure, if you turn it down then nothing good will come from it.

Speaking of opportunities, lots of coaches are jumping into my Secret Coach Club. There's not much time left for the early bird pricing, more details here:
