La La Land is the buzz of Hollywood at the moment, having just snagged a record-tying 14 Oscar
nominations.
It's not my cup of tea (I'm not a musicals-kinda-guy) but to each their own. You can't knock its success.
The movie stars Emma Stone and fellow Canuck Ryan Gosling, but it was going to star two other actors - Emma Watson and Miles Teller.
Rumour has it that Watson and Teller were too demanding in their negotiations for the roles:
They made "crazy demands"
...
They wanted rehearsals to take place in other parts of the world just for them ...
They wanted more money,
And on and on.
It sounds like they operated like spoiled brats, and they lost out on starring in the film.
Who knows if these stories are true, but regardless, missing the movie cost Watson and Teller a lot: better roles in the
future, more money, more fame and prestige.
And it highlights something that I've been talking a lot about lately: seizing opportunities.
A few days ago, I told you about how I almost missed out on my own La La Land, when I was about to say "no" when I was asked to be on a panel at the Social Media Marketing World conference in San Diego next month.
I caught myself and I committed, but almost
pulled a Watson/Teller.
Everyday, people are missing out on opportunities because their minds are manufacturing excuses as to why the timing isn't right.
Catch yourself when this happens, and commit to the opportunities before others snag them.
If being a successful coach is your dream, here's an opportunity for you:
