The hidden hook to make your message unforgettable

I was leafing through the notes that I took while down at Social Media Marketing World last week, and something hit me ...

While they were all great speakers at the event,  I got more value from some workshops than others.

Looking through my trusty Moleskine, I see that I filled seven or more pages of notes for some speakers, and will remember their talks more than others.

What was their magic sauce?

Stories

There's something about a story that sticks with you more than any statistic can.

For example, I got to talk with Pat Flynn (Smart Passive Income) and attended his workshop.

Near the end of it, he told a story about dreaming of writing a book that he could take his kids to go see on the shelves of a bookstore.

When he wrote Will It Fly?, he got to do that.

He told how excited his kids were, and even showed a video clip of them racing through the bookstore to find his book.

When they finally found it, the audience let out a collective "Awwww" and Pat had the room in the palm of his hand.

If he had just said "Boy, how I dreamed of seeing my book on the store shelves" and left it at that, it wouldn't have made such an impact on everyone in attendance.

The same goes with writing. Incorporating stories will make your writing more impactful: Facebook posts, blog posts, emails, sales pages ... you name it.

If you've got an hour to spare this Thursday, you'll discover how to use storytelling to add more punch to your writing at the digital class that I'm hosting with Razwana Wahid.  Here's the link to save your spot:
