If you hate snakes ... don't read this email

If I wasn't a coach, I might be a treasure hunter.

I'd scour the Internet for teams of other treasure seekers, and join their expeditions around the world.

I think I'd just go and do it.

Crazy, I know ...

I loved the Indiana Jones movies when I was a kid, and my brother Matt and I hunted for buried treasure with our trusty metal detector many days.

I read The Hardy Boys novels after bedtime with a flashlight under my covers, and especially loved the ones about treasure.

Because of this, I was drawn to a new book by Douglas Preston called The Lost City of the Monkey God and just finished reading it last night.

Preston joined an expedition that was searching deep in the jungles of Honduras for a mythical city called the "City of the Monkey God" that was supposedly home to priceless treasures and artifacts.

I won't spoil what happened, but I will say that the team had a hell of a time on that journey.

Tortuous jungle terrain, crazy animals, disease, rains that led to flash flooding ...

But the part that I found most disturbing was Preston's description of the snakes encountered by his team. Like Indiana Jones, I also share a dislike of the creatures, and reading about the 6 foot fer-de-lance snakes that slithered around their tents at night and hid in the bushes around them gave me the chills.

Although the coaching industry isn't quite as dangerous as those jungles, it can still be tricky to navigate.

Coaches often feel like they're stuck in a jungle:

Disoriented ...
Lost ...
Hungry ...
Confused.

Many try to slash and hack their way through the bush to get to the other side.

Some make it, but many do not.

That's why I started my Facebook group, The Coaching Jungle.  I wanted a place where coaches could get guidance navigating the tricky terrain of growing a successful business.

If you want more support in your journey, then the group is for you.

Come on over (no snakes, I promise):
