Yesterday's email about posting at least 3-4x per day on Facebook generated a lot of feedback by email and on
social media.
While some saw the light and said it was the kick in the pants that they needed to post more frequently, others said it's a bad business strategy. I heard things like:
- "Whenever someone posts too much I unfriend them"
- "If a group owner posts too often I leave the group"
- "It's sooooo annoying"
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you
have to remember something:
Just because you don't like something as a consumer doesn't mean it's a bad business strategy.
Take the Super Bowl for example.
There are some football fanatics that can't stand the commercials during the game. They just want to see the sport being played and not have to see them.
But does that mean that advertisers shouldn't buy Super
Bowl ads? Of course not.
There's a reason why the NFL can charge $5 million to $10 million for each ad (and get it). It's because a lot of viewers love them, and those are things that are often talked about at the water cooler the morning after the big game.
The same goes with posting your content.
Will some people not dig it? Yes, and they'll leave. But it's a very small percentage of
people, and the rest will finally start to see what you're posting and reach out to get your help.
Let's say you have 1000 Facebook friends and you adopt my strategy of posting 3-4x per day. You may lose 10 people who don't like seeing the increased activity. So you have 990 people left, but you have a stronger bond (and more business) with those people.
That's not a bad trade off.
Stop
worrying so much about what other people think and just do it. If the guy who sat next to you in grade ten history class gets offended that you're out there doing your business, then take the approach "Don't let the door hit you on the way out, buddy".
Since consistent posting is such an important thing, it's a big part of my 10 Clients In 90 Days group program. You'll learn the right way to do it, and get accountability to make sure you follow
through ...
I'm opening up a new group this month, and another spot was snatched up yesterday. If you want one of the remaining ones, check this out:
