time) was ... (drumroll please) ...
Doing Giveaways.
Think about it:
How many Facebook groups are you in that actually give stuff away for free?
Yet I gladly do giveaways for physical copies of books, Amazon gift cards, and more because they work!
I don't cheap out on these, but I don't spend a fortune of them either (a
maximum of $200 to $300 per giveaway). Yet every time I do one, it gets people talking and it supercharges my group's growth.
The reason why is simple: people love winning stuff. We just bought a new car, and the salesman was telling us that he recently won a Cadbury bicycle in a draw that his grocery store did. From the way he was going on, you'd swear that he won a car!
It's not enough to just throw prizes at
people, though.
There's a right way to do the draw (that's fair to all members), a right length of time to do it to maximize the giveaways effectiveness, and a right way to promote the giveaway (during it and afterwards).
