So, what the heck do you do?

Since we just wrapped up the 4th of July and there were a few BBQs going on, let me tell you about something I talk about a lot with my clients and in my Secret Coach Club.

"The BBQ pitch"

The BBQ pitch is my version of the elevator pitch. Elevator pitches never seemed very real to me, since how many times have you been standing in an elevator and actually had to pitch someone before it reaches your floor?

(Most people are staring up at the floor numbers or checking their iPhone to avoid any awkward conversation in there).

A BBQ pitch is what you tell someone if you're at a backyard BBQ, munching on a hot dog - he/she approaches and (after commenting about the weather, of course), asks; "So, what do you do?"

Your BBQ pitch needs to be short.  It can't be a five minute rambling speech or the person is going to look for an opening to get out of there.

Your BBQ pitch needs to roll off the tongue. You can't stumble with this (Warning: drinking too many beers at the BBQ could affect this).

Your BBQ pitch needs to evoke curiosity. It should make the person interested to learn more. Then you can get into a deeper conversation about your coaching.

Most importantly, your BBQ pitch needs to be clear. The other person should instantly "get" it. For example, I know a coach who answers the question by saying; "I help clients make their first 10k online". There's no guessing with that one (plus I like that he narrowed it down by focusing on their first $10,000 online - that sets him apart from coaches who say; "I help people make money online".

How's your BBQ pitch looking? What would you say if I approached you and asked you what you do?

By the way, I'm Marc and I help coaches get more clients (without paid advertising).  If you want me in your corner with your coaching business, here's a way you can get it for just the price of a hot dog a day:
