Climbing out of your sandbox

I don't exactly live in a big metropolis of millions of people.

I'm on the East coast of Canada, and while my city isn't a bad size (we have about 145,000 in the metro area), it's not a hotspot for my target market of coaches.

If I had to guess, I'd say we'd be lucky to have 100 coaches in my city!

Given that, I decided early on to not put all of my eggs in this local basket.

In my years of coaching, I've worked with just a handful of clients within a few hour driving distance of my city (who came to me by accident, not by any local effort on my part) and even then we met on Skype for our sessions instead of meeting face-to-face.

All of my clients are from away. Most are in the United States, but some are in the UK, a few are in Dubai, and I even have one in Romania at the moment which is pretty cool.

I tell you this to let you know that If you live in a small place, don't despair.  You can build a successful online business with clients from away.

We live in a world of over 7 billion people ... why would you want to limit yourself to your corner of the world?

I say step out of your sandbox.  There are plenty of people thousands of miles away who could use your help, so you should think BIG!

This is why I love Facebook groups so much. They're a great way to gather people from all around the world into one spot where they can get to know, like and trust you.

Once that happens, they're prime candidates to become clients and customers for you.

Facebook groups have been my best method for acquiring clients, and I highly recommend them.
