One of the common excuses that I hear from people for why they haven't started a Facebook group yet is they're
worried that Facebook could kill off groups without notice.
They fear that they'll wake up one day and Poof! groups are gone ...
If that's your main hesitation, fear not.
Mark Zuckerberg just announced a new mission statement for Facebook a week or so ago, and a big part of that focused on Facebook groups. Here it is:

As we all know by now, when Mark Zuckerberg wants something, Mark Zuckerberg gets it. And it's clear that Zucky wants groups to be a big part of Facebook.
