I just finished listening to an audiobook about one of my favourite actors: Robert Downey
Jr.
It's called Robert Downey Jr: The Biography by Martin Howden, and it tells the story of Downey's life as a young actor in the Hollywood "Brat Pack" of the 1980's, to his troubles with drugs/the law/prison, to his redemption as the star of the Iron Man movies and leader of the Marvel universe.
Although I knew about Downey's troubles with the law, I had no idea that it was as bad as it was. This guy was in and
out of prison a number of times, and was in the clutches of a drug addiction that should have killed him many times over.
RDJ shouldn't be alive today, let alone the biggest movie star on the planet.
The lesson we can learn?
It doesn't matter how many setbacks you've had - If you have talent and passion, you can become a success.
I don't care how many times
you've failed, you can do it.
Although I can't say that my life has been the roller coaster that Robert Downey Jr's has been, I've gone through two business closures, a divorce, and things that made me question if I could make it as a coach.
With hard work, and a little bit of luck, I made it. And I pass along what I've learned in every issue of my Secret Coach Club print newsletter.
The next issue goes
to print tomorrow, so the deadline is tonight to get the August issue.
