I read a story about an "accidental beach" that popped up recently in Edmonton,
Alberta.
Edmonton is in Western Canada, and it's landlocked, so there aren't a lot of beaches there.
But apparently construction of a light rail transit changed the current of a river, and exposed a sandy beach that's never been seen before.
It's been a scorcher of a summer there, so the surprise beach has been a big hit with the locals since it was
discovered.
There are a lot of accidental coaches out there, too.
Most coaches I connect with didn't plan on becoming coaches. Coaching has hit the mainstream in just the last few years really, so how many of us actually grew up dreaming of becoming coaches?
The good news is you don't have to grow up dreaming of becoming a coach to do it.
I never expected that I'd be
doing this. As a kid I thought that I'd be playing shortstop for the Blue Jays, or doing something cool like treasure hunting (just like Indiana Jones).
But after I went through a business closure, I was helped back to my feet by coaches and mentors. This exposed me to coaching and what it can do for people, and eventually led to me becoming a coach.
If you aren't currently a coach, or hadn't thought of becoming one before,
don't let that stop you.
Like that strange little beach in Edmonton, you too can be a happy surprise for people.
