One of my friends, serial entrepreneur Rivers Corbett, has a saying:
"Zag
while others zig"
(I know the usual saying is to "zig while others zag", but Rivers is employing his philosophy of being unique here).
In the online coaching world, you really have to do things differently to stand out.
I'm the host of a podcast where I've interviewed over 500 coaches and I research a ton of websites in the industry every week, and a lot of the stuff I see in the coaching world
starts to blend together.
I see the same Facebook posts, same videos, same old copy.
Not that it's all bad. But if you want to get your head up above the crowd and get noticed, you have to do something different.
Besides RIvers, others are zagging ...
Chris Burns is one. Chris is doing regular 12-hour Facebook Live marathons, which is definitely unique (I asked him
the other day how he handles having to go to the bathroom during these marathons!)
Halley Gray does "Drunk Webinars" where she and her guests have drinks and chat about business (now that could get interesting)
When I started my podcast, I did a daily show for coaches for the first 300 episodes. There weren't many podcasts exclusively for coaches back then, and none that were daily shows so it was definitely
zagging.
Now, I'm zagging with my Secret Coach Club newsletter. A print-only, no digital-copies newsletters sounds strange but it sets me apart and it's been helping a lot of coaches around the world since it launched back in March.
Have a look around at what your peers are doing, and get as far away from them as possible.
Don't hold back - do something that makes you stick out like a sore thumb
...
If you'd like to check out how I'm zagging, the next Secret Coach Club is going to the printer soon.
It's where I share exclusive strategies for coaches to get more clients and customers.
The deadline to get the November issue is tonight at midnight (EST).
