I'll share with you one of the worst moments of my
life.
It may sound silly since it happened when I was 10 years old, but it still stings ...
I love the Toronto Blue Jays. I've been a big Jays fan since I was a wee lad - I even slept with my baseball glove many nights as a kid. I studied baseball cards, I knew all the players' stats and watched the Jays games religiously.
My brother and I loved the Blue Jays and baseball so much that we
shovelled snow from our Atlantic Canadian lawn in February just so we could play catch.
I know, it's crazy. So that's why this hurt so much:
Back in grade four, around this time of the year, some of the Toronto Blue Jays were coming to my neck of the woods to play an exhibition game.
My school was doing a campaign where the kids sold magazine subscriptions, and for every subscription a
student sold their name would be entered into a draw to go meet the Blue Jays when they came to town.
Since only two students would be chosen, my chances were slim. But I held out hope like Charlie as he was looking for that golden ticket to win a trip to the chocolate factory.
Lo and behold, I won one of the golden tickets to go meet my version of Willy Wonka!
As the day approached I was
really excited, and couldn't wait to play catch on the field with my heroes. I couldn't even sleep ...
Then on the big day, we got hit with a fluke snowstorm and the Blue Jays cancelled their trip (snowstorms aren't uncommon in Canada, but we usually don't get them when it's almost May).
My dreams were crushed, and even almost 30 years later the sting remains.
Next month I'm going to
Toronto to watch the Blue Jays play the Red Sox live, but that doesn't compare to the experience that I would have had back when I was 10.
Ah well, that's life I guess.
But I tell you this painful story because it was disappointing - and I'll be disappointed again if you don't join Secret Coach Club in time to get the new issue that ships out on Tuesday.
The new issue will walk you through how to
create and sell your own print newsletter, so you can bring a lot of extra money into your business.
Don't let me down - the deadline to get it is tomorrow at 11:59 pm EST:
