A follow up to yesterday's message, where I raced onto the battlefield to defend
money against those who rail against it.
One of my favourite quotes about money comes from Michael Beckwith (I believe):
"You can't light up the world if you can't pay your light bill"
If you're having a coaching session with a client on Skype and your phone is ringing with calls from bill collectors, it's going to be hard to be on your A-game for that client.
You're not
going to be in the right headspace to help the person.
If you have to take on clients who are paying you peanuts just to get some money coming in, you're going to turn bitter and miserable.
I've seen it. I know coaches who entered the business with all the hope and optimism they could muster, but who became jaded with the types of people they were attracting (cheap hagglers who beat them up on their
fees).
You can't coach on an empty stomach.
You'll be a better coach with your belly full and your bills paid.
