Lately, we've been hearing more often about people wiped out of (social
media) existence, as if Thanos snapped his fingers and poof! they're gone.
It's like they were walking down the virtual sidewalk, and some masked men popped out of an unmarked van and whisked them away ... never to be seen again.
One of the more recent ones was Alex Jones, who lost all of his (massive) social media accounts when the tech gods decided they didn't want him on there.
With one fell swoop,
something that took years to build up was gone.
Not that I'm a big Alex Jones fan, or even followed his stuff, but I get the jitters when I see censorship happening. I say respect free speech, and let me decide what I think of that message.
it's pretty scary when a few people in Silicon Valley can erase your online presence.
This "deplatforming" isn't limited to influencers with big
followings - it's happening to smaller fish as well.
With social media, it's easy to forget that we don't own that home. We're allowed to play in that space, until we aren't. Nothing is guaranteed, it's not like it's considered a basic human right to be allowed to have a Facebook or Twitter account.
This is one of the reasons why it's so important to build an email list.
With email, you control
it.
It's yours. Not owned by Mark Zuckerberg, or anyone else.
I don't mean to scare you, but to point out that you're vulnerable if all of your eggs are in the social media basket.
If you'd like to learn how to quickly grow and monetize your email list, my Daily Email System will show you how.
