When I was a kid, I used to love "Choose Your Own Adventure"
books.
They were the ones where you made decisions that led to different endings in the stories.
For example, your character could be hiking up a mountain to reach a castle at the top when you encounter a stranger who offers to guide you, and the books says:
"To accept the stranger's offer to help, turn to page 74.
To refuse the stranger's offer and continue along on your own, turn to page 29."
These books were a big thing in the 80's and 90's, and I think kids were drawn to them because they gave them control over something at a time when you feel like you can't control much.
Jeremy Wenger is setting up a Facebook Messenger bot for me and he was showing me the map of options that my bot subscribers can take once they're in there.
As I was looking at the map, it reminded me of a "Choose Your Own Adventure". It's not a straight line, since people are at different parts of their journey and need help with different things.
A bot gives them control over what they're getting from you, and ensures that you're top of mind when they're ready to make a buying decision.
Tomorrow Jeremy will be doing a live training to show how you can use Facebook Messenger bots to grow your online business.
